Hello parents and students. I apologize for not keeping up to date on the blogs for last week. We had a busy week of review.
Tuesday June 12- we analyzed how we will be marked on the provincial, we looked at a quick scale writing rubric, and discussed compare and contrasting writing, reviewed PEEC
Wednesday June 13- we discussed integrating quotes and we did a compare and contrast literary response
Thursday June 14- we reviewed integrating quotes and took a break from review for a couple of days
Friday June 15- review break- watched dual survival

Act 4 and 5
In English 10 today we finished watching Act 4 and 5 of our movie and spent 25 minutes of class time working on our study guide. At the end of the play we learn that only death can end the ancient family grudge between the Capulets and Montagues.

Poetry Test Day
Today we wrote our poetry unit final test. The students had to respond to three short poems. The unit test was intended to mimic the poetry section on the provincial exam.

It is important that you come to class on Monday with a topic that you would like to persuade other people to believe. We will be doing some research and writinf a persuasive essay.
During Thursday's class we spent some time looking really closely at the structure of an essay. We discussed the following topics
1.) Introduction and Thesis Statement
2.) Body- Supporting Paragraphs and PEEC
3.) Conclusion- rewording the Thesis
Wednesday was a test day. The students wrote their short story unit test which consisted of the following:
1.) Literary terms
2.) Media and advertising
3.) Compairing two texts- literary response(these were done well)
Overall a great week of learning. This is the last week of term 3 so it is important that you hand in any missing assignments before Spring break.
In Friday's class we covered the following:
1.) Silent Reading
2.) Editing Conference for All The Troubles of I-Robot (final copy is due on Monday)
3.) Brainstormed a topic for our Persuasive Essay- (starting on Monday)
It is important that you come to class on Monday with a topic that you would like to persuade other people to believe. We will be doing some research and writinf a persuasive essay.
